Extraordinary archives added to National Library
On Friday the 28th a very special handover ceremony took place at the National Library of Vanuatu. The French ambassador Jean-Baptiste Jeangène Vilmer presented the National Librarian, Nelly Caleb, with a small USB key.
Insufficient Storage Space for National Archives and Artefacts
The Vanuatu National Archives at the Vanuatu Cultural Centre (VCC) no longer has enough space to store government archives.
Currently, there are more than 10 government ministries whose archives are being stored in containers due to the shortage of space inside the National Archives building.
National Archives of Vanuatu Opens!
Vanuatu now has a permanent facility to safeguard the country’s rich and diverse history!
The new National Library and National Archives of Vanuatu building officially opened on August 23, 2013. The building was a gift from Australia on the 30th anniversary of Vanuatu’s independence, and is located adjacent to the Cultural Center in Port Vila.
