The National Library and Archives have the largest Vanuatu Collection in the world.
The National Library and Archives is committed to safekeeping, protecting and making information accessible to all citizens of Vanuatu. We also assist local researchers and overseas researchers. The National Library and Archives strongly believes that knowledge and information is one of the most significant resources for national development.
Our staff consists of one Chief Librarian, one Library Assistant, one Chief Archivist and two Assistant Archivist, one Digitization and Preservation Officer, one Finance Officer and one receptionist. Our staff is here to serve you. We hope that you will feel welcome at the Library and Archives and also please feel welcome to contact our helpdesk for assistance.

What We Do
The Vanuatu National Library and Archives is responsible for the preservation, management, and accessibility of the nation’s historical records and documents.
The Chief Archivist and the Chief Librarian of the Vanuatu National Archives and Library is responsible for overseeing the management, preservation, and accessibility of the nation's archival records.
National Archives Mission
The National Archives of Vanuatu, guided by the National Archives Act, is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and providing access to the nation's historic, cultural, and public records while respecting cultural practices. It also promotes national heritage through collaboration with other institutions and fosters awareness of effective record-keeping for good governance and accountability.
National Library Mission
The Library of Vanuatu collects and preserves literature about Vanuatu in Bislama, French, English, and vernacular languages, covering all aspects of the nation's life, while also maintaining Pacific and General Collections. It fosters public interest and pride in the collections, ensures access for research and enjoyment, and serves as an educational resource for students of all ages.
