Welcome to the Port Vila Public Library, an important civic space where all the community members of Port Vila should feel welcome to come to visit. With all our friendly staff, we strive for excellence in all aspects of our services to ensure a positive and responsive experience for all our customers.

Mission Statement

Port Vila Public Library provide materials and services to help community residents of Port Vila obtain information to meet their personal, educational and cultural needs, and serves as a learning and educational centre for all its customers.

The Port Vila Public Library will foster the spirit of exploration, lifelong learning, the joy of reading, and the pursuit of information and knowledge for all ages and cultures.

What We Do

GOAL 1 : Read, Learn and Discover

The Port Vila Public Library will contribute to provide for the community and individual wellbeing by providing accessible and engaging collections, resources and programs that will encourage lifelong learning and reading for pleasure.

Goal 2 : Connect, Collaborate and Participate

Our library provides opportunities for social connection and community engagement. We will actively invite and develop collaborative community partnership to achieve mutual benefits.

Our friendly library staff will always continue to uphold it’s work ethics to implement a customer focused service model that facilitates positive service interactions and user experiences and also provide a safe, welcoming and accessible physical spaces for all our users.

Legislation

The Public Library is required by the Vanuatu Cultural Council and the Chief Librarian of the National Library under the Vanuatu National Council Act to identify its strategy direction in a yearly plan which to detail the actions that will be implemented to achieve the Library objectives and key strategies articulated in the Library Plan and to detail the strategic resources plan that describes the resources required for the year in achieving the Library plan.
